This is an exciting opportunity to join the STEPS team to plan, organise and facilitate daytime, evening and weekend activities and events for STEPS residential clients. This role requires you to be a driver and be able to drive the two wheelchair accessible vehicles, and to be available to work alternate weekends and regular evenings.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Event & Activities Co-Ordinator will work with the Events & Activities Co-Ordinator to arrange trips, activities and social events for our clients while they are with us. They will also supervise and lead more junior members of the events & activities team.

About us

STEPS Rehabilitation opened in May 2017 by founders, directors (and family) Jules Shiel-Boulger, Toria Chan, and Ray Boulger. STEPS deliver intensive and ongoing rehabilitation for people recovering from brain injury, spinal cord injury, strokes, and complex trauma injuries, enabling them to reach their full potential and to rebuild their lives.

Facilities

STEPS is a specialist rehabilitation facility, able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitation professionals. Our purpose-built premises in Sheffield, South Yorkshire is home to a 23 bedroom, residential and day rehabilitation facility. STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable, and homely.

Rehabilitation

We have created a unique environment that enables people to access a wide range of therapies, specialist robotic and VR rehabilitation equipment, and medical specialists all under one roof. This includes access to Consultants in rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, and pain management. We have an extensive team of clinical professionals, and the psychological therapies team includes two experienced clinical neuropsychologists, a neurologic music therapist, an art psychotherapist and solution focused hypnotherapists.

Job responsibilities

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, lead, organise and implement a range of activities for clients who have a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, traumatic injuries and other complex conditions. This will include, group activities, social events, community outings and evening events for clients reflective of their interests.

You will be responsible for delivering the weekly quiz night and some established activities as well as developing new activities and events, being responsive to the changeover with new client admissions and adjusting as needed to take into account each clients interests

Driving clients to and from events and activities in the STEPS vehicles.

Supervise and lead more junior members of the events and activities team.

To communicate with the wider team to coordinate events and activities to ensure the safety of clients throughout.

To arrange entertainment and events within an agreed budget

To regularly monitor, review and modify events/activities programmes

Identify any additional support needs required for undertaking activities and groups

To adapt approach to meet individual client circumstances, including cultural, social, and linguistic differences in addition to their cognitive and physical disabilities

To maintain accurate and contemporaneous documentation according to STEPS standards including clinical notes and reports

To adhere to and support individual client risk assessments with the support of the treating team

To apply manual handling principles as outlined by legislation and department procedures

To escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures

To be compliant with the clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures

To carry out tasks required to maintain safety, cleanliness and tidiness of all areas

To collect regular feedback from clients and take appropriate action

To participate in training and development activities that are relevant to the job role
