Job summary

This role is ideal for experienced GP Practice Business Managers, Primary Care Operations Leads, or Healthcare Finance Managers looking for a senior strategic leadership position. While titled Finance & Strategy Executive, the role aligns closely with the responsibilities of a Senior GP Business Manager or Head of Primary Care Operations in a large practice setting.

As Finance & Strategy Executive, you will:

  • Work alongside the existing management team to evaluate current financial and operational processes, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency.
  • Provide financial leadership during the practices restructuring, ensuring smooth transition and change management.
  • Collaborate with the existing management team, with a view to refining operational structures to better align financial strategies with practice objectives.
  • Support the Partners and Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) in long-term financial planning and business transformation.

Main duties of the job

Strategic Planning & Business Development

  • Providefinancial analysis and business intelligenceto support decision-making.
  • Develop and managebusiness casesto support practice expansion and service improvements.
  • Leadpractice-wide strategic projects, ensuring operational and financial alignment.
  • Work closely with the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and Partnersto drive strategic change.

Operational & Leadership Support

  • Support the restructuring ofoperational management, working with thethree new site-specific Operational Managers.
  • Develop and overseegovernance, compliance, and reporting systems.
  • Support thetransition from the current management modelto a more efficient structure.

Farnham Road Group Practice (FRGP) is a large, multi-site GP practice committed to delivering high-quality patient care. We are an established training practice approved by Health Education England, with a team of over 100 staff serving approximately 38,000 patients.

Our practice has evolved significantly over recent years, requiring a strengthened financial and strategic management structure. We are now seeking a Finance & Strategy Executive to support the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and Partners in ensuring financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and long-term business growth.

This position is part of a strategic management restructure, and you will play a pivotal role in leading financial strategy, optimising practice income, and contributing to business planning at a critical time of change.

Primary Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Operational Management

Develop and implement strategic plans to meet practice objectives. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their responsibilities. Act as the primary liaison with NHS bodies, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and other external stakeholders. Lead change management initiatives and foster continuous improvement across the organisation. Develop and embed an efficient business resilience/continuity plan. Ensure the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations and healthcare regulations, including CQC and GDPR

Financial Management

Manage the practice's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Oversee payroll, pensions, and partner drawings, ensuring compliance with NHS and legal requirements. Optimise income streams, including QOF, Enhanced Services, PCSE payments, and private revenue. Liaise with accountants, oversee accounts, and ensure timely presentation of year-end figures. Manage and process partner payments, PAYE, and staff pensions. Monitor financial contracts, insurance, and supplier agreements to maximize value.

Human Resources Management

Oversee the functional management of all clinical and administrative staff. Direct line management of key staff and responsible for the wider team. Manage recruitment, retention, and succession planning. Ensure all staff undertake robust inductions and appraisals, supported by an effective staff development plan. Maintain compliance with HR legislation and resolve disciplinary and grievance matters effectively.

Data and IT Management

Manage and oversee the organizations IT systems, including clinical and administrative platforms, ensuring security and compliance. Coordinate system updates, maintain data integrity, and oversee information governance (IG) standards.

Facilities and Premises Management

Oversee the management of the premises, including health and safety compliance, risk assessments, and maintenance contracts. Ensure adequate insurance coverage for all aspects of the practice.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and implement effective internal and external communication strategies. Publish newsletters and maintain the organisations website and NHS Choices profile. Support the management of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) and handle patient feedback effectively.

Leadership and Team Development

Lead and inspire teams to foster a culture of collaboration, high morale, and professional development. Organize team-building activities and regular meetings to maintain open communication and shared goals.
