Your Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to step into a leadership role as Unit Manager within our Cardiff North Dialysis Unit.

In this role, you will oversee the daytoday management of the dialysis service, support and develop staff, and ensure the delivery of highquality, patientcentred renal care.

Key Details:

Location: Cardiff North Dialysis Unit

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. This is a 100% management role, with some clinical work as required to meet patient needs and support staff.

Contract: Permanent

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities:

Quality & Care Management: You will hold direct responsibility for the local management, monitoring, compliance and reporting, within the B. Braun Quality Management System, ISO 9001: 2015 & Good Dialysis Practice.

Team Management: Lead and manage the unit team to deliver a knowledgeable, motivated, effective and professional team in accordance with the Avitum Core values. You will manage HR processes including conflict, disciplinary and grievance, recruitment, appraisals, sickness absence.

Financial Management:Maximise revenue by efficiently scheduling treatment sessions to promote full occupancy and minimize missed sessions. Control costs through effective planning of staff rotas, annual leave, overtime, training budgets, consumables stock control, equipment service callouts, and minimizing supplementary purchasing.

Business Management: Submit accurate and timely financial activity data, including patient activity data, monthly cost centre report analysis, staff payroll data, personal expense reports, stock orders, and managing local invoices with an accurate invoice log.

What you need to succeed:

  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Renal Course Certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in dialysis as a Senior Nurse or Manager.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and sensitively.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage own time, workload and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Ability to handle conflicts/crisis.

Service & Operational Management

Champion recycling, waste segregation, and responsible disposal of clinical materials

Monitor environmental performance metrics and contribute to reporting, improvement plans, and sustainability audits

Administration & Performance Monitoring

Maintain accurate patient treatment records, staffing logs, and service metrics

Develop and monitor operational KPIs with the Lead Nurse and Business Manager
