Working hours: 37.5hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8am-6pm

Location: Head Office, Sheffield, S35 2PW. Located just off Junction 35A off the M1. We offer free onsite parking.

Working as part of a team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our experienced team of Dispensers, Technicians & Pharmacists,working together to dispense and check medical products for Homecare patients.

Main duties of the job

Here's what you can expect to be doing...

  • To set up and check homecare parenteral nutrition (PN) formulations and Homecare prescriptions, liaising with referring prescribers as appropriate.
  • To dispense and check medicinal products from the B. Braun Medical Pharmacy e.g. prescriptions for Homecare patients.
  • The work involves an element of moderate lifting (up to 12kgs) and working in a cold store on a rota basis.
  • To support the homecare Pharmacists in the day-to-day formulation, dispensing, ordering and supply of products for homecare patients.
  • To support the Pharmacy Team Leader with maintenance of the pharmacy system and procedures, day-to-day queries and effective handling of any issues.
  • To work as part of the B. Braun Homecare Team and wider B. Braun team to support the patient transition from hospital to home ensuring a seamless transition of care.
  • To contribute to ongoing quality improvement e.g. reporting of errors, near misses, complaints and incidents.

What you'll need to succeed...

  • Possess a BTEC NC Pharmacy services/NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy services or equivalent
  • Be a registered GPhC Technician or working towards being registered
  • Have the ability to concentrate for long periods of time and to work effectively independently.
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Have excellent attention to detail and able to work to a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Being able to prioritise your workload and take responsibility for the completion of your own tasks

Job responsibilities

  • Support the homecare pharmacists in the day-to-day formulation, dispensing, ordering and supply of products for homecare patients.
  • To dispense and check medicinal products from the BBraun Medical Pharmacy e.g. Prescriptions for Homecare patients.
  • To set up and check homecare parenteral nutrition (PN) formulations, TransCare and Avitum prescriptions, liaising with referring prescribers as appropriate.
  • To support the Pharmacy Team Leader with maintenance of the pharmacy system and procedures.
  • To work as part of the BBraun TransCare and wider BBraun team in ensuring that TransCare achieve agreed goals both in terms of financial, profit and service.
  • To liaise with cross BBraun divisional departments to support the patient transition from hospital to home ensuring a seamless transition of care.
  • To support the Pharmacy Team Leader and Responsible Pharmacist in dealing with day-to-day queries and issues.
  • To support the Dispensers with the supply of medicinal products from the Pharmacy e.g. Prescriptions for Homecare TPN, ancillaries and Avitum home dialysis patients.
  • To support the Pharmacy Team Leader and Responsible Pharmacist in dealing with day-to-day operational, technical queries and issues.
  • To support with adherence to the principles of the GPhC standards for registered pharmacies
  • To ensure reports from customers relating to product quality complaints or adverse drug reactions are documented and the essential minimum information is collected and forwarded to the Regulatory Affairs Department the same day they are received.
  • Act as an ambassador for continuous improvement in the Pharmacy Team and the wider business
  • To act in a professional manner at all times to promote a positive image of the company.
  • To deal with other duties and responsibilities which do not change the nature of the post.
