Job summary
Ealing GP Federation working with the Primary Care Networks of Ealing and are recruiting for GP Assistants.
If successful you will work across North Southall PCN.
You will also work across the practices within the network to provide a patient facing role, with particular focus on supporting the GP with administrative preparation tasks for patients and providing some basic clinical skills.
This role requires motivation and passion to deliver an excellent service within general practice.
The post holder is a person who:
- Will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role.
- Will have the individual drive to learn and develop into a new role.
- Will work under the supervision of a GP and/or other clinical/administrative staff within the practices within the PCN.
- Will be flexible and adaptive to a different workload every day.
- Will be comfortable in a patient facing and interaction role.
All practices except for one use SystmOne as their clinical system and one practice uses EMIS. SystmOne knowledge is advantageous however training with practices and eLearning will be available for staff.
Main duties of the job
1.
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for
the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical
pharmacist etc.
2.
Extracting all information from clinical
letters that needs coding and adding to notes.
3.
Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and
follow up appointments of patients.
4.
Preparing patients prior to going in to see
the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP
appointment.
5.
Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs
& phlebotomy.
6.
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core
elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms,
mortgage, benefits agency forms etc.
7.
Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
8.
Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies
e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission
while the GP can continue with their consultation(s).
9.
Support the GP with immunisations/wound care.

comprised of all 70 general practices covering the London Borough of Ealing.
Ealing GP Federation was also key in supporting and
operating the Covid-19 vaccination programme and supporting out Primary Care
Network colleagues in delivering vaccinations to thousands of patients during

well-established network of 10 general practices respectively.
