Job summary
The Health Informatics team has specialist skills in delivering programmes of work that include providing secure environments for storing and accessing health and other sensitive data to support health and care delivery, research, and innovation. Within the team we have both an Operations and Technical function. This role sits within the Technical function and the primary focus will be to support the sustainable use of data including, but not limited to research studies. Projects are generally delivered in partnership with academic or NHS institutes and can be in collaboration with industry. This will involve taking ownership of database management tasks, cataloguing data, monitoring and maintaining data pipelines, whilst establishing good relationships and communication with external collaborators. The post holder will be working alongside highly skilled and experienced team members giving extensive opportunities to acquire new skills and knowledge through both formal and informal training.
Main duties of the job
You will be involved in several projects, with cross-cover being an important aspect of our team.
Your primary focus will be to action existing processes, data and user access to support the sustainable use of data including, but not limited to research studies.Projects are generally in partnership with academic or NHS institutes and can be in collaboration with industry.This will involve database management tasks, cataloguing of data, monitoring and maintaining data pipelines, whilst establishing good relationships and communication with external collaborators. The role could suit a recent computing (or related subject area) graduate, or someone with experience in NHS data management who is looking for a new challenge. The post holder will be working alongside highly experienced team members, with learning opportunities to enhances skills and knowledge through both formal and informal training.
The post holder should expect to work with both on-prem and cloud compute.
Key responsibilities
Data curation, cleaning, and transformation
Management of data repositories and databases
Triaging research data requests
Providing first line support for data queries
Handling of data in line with information governance and security standards
Provide cross-cover support where skills and training allow
Engagement with wider Health Informatics team projects
Proactively identify appropriate new skills for personal development within role
