Location: Based mainly in Hereford city centre, with occasional countywide travel.

Sexual Health 4 Herefordshire is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Sexual Healthcare Support Worker/Receptionist to join our friendly team in Hereford.

This is a dual role, combining reception duties with clinical support. You will be the first point of contact for patients, helping create a welcoming, non-judgemental environment while supporting people to access sexual health services.

The Role Includes:

Patient reception, bookings, and IT-based administration

Supporting clinicians in clinic, including chaperoning, self-testing support and phlebotomy

General admin, data tasks, and some marketing/social media activity

Occasional reception work at outreach clinics across the county

Main duties of the job

Under direct supervision assists with the delivery of care as described by the Registered Nurse

Provide patients with self taken screening for common STIs, urinalysis and pregnancy testing – providing results to a member of the Nursing or Medical Team

Confidence in discussing sexual health concerns or information with patients in an approachable, non-judgemental, sex positive manner

Signposting patients via the telephone and face-to-face to the most appropriate local services. Referring patients to the nurse triage service and distributing condoms and information to patients

Provide Chaperoning, advocacy and support for patients attending the clinic for genital examination or treatment. Supporting the clinician in preparation of clinical areas and passing of instruments during procedures

Phlebotomy obtaining venous blood sampling from patients following appropriate training and support from the Registered Nurse

Daily administration tasks and checks

Booking patients in at reception, supporting them to complete paperwork and entering personal information onto the IT systems

Printing forms and labels for clinical staff

Checking data and referring to clinicians where necessary

Stocking the administrative supplies and the clinical room supplies

Dealing with post and parcels

Ensuring that the waiting room and non-clinical spaces are kept tidy and safe from hazards

Answering the patient phone lines and looking at availability for booking appointments

Working in a team to work through follow up appointments to be booked and referrals from other professionals

Completing letters on behalf of clinicians and providing administrative support including sending texts to patients, completing appointment cards and following up phone calls with patients who have missed appointments

Providing non-clinical information and sign posting to patients that require information about local services

Creating content and managing social media for the service

Managing the incoming voicemails and emails and responding appropriately within set parameters

Ordering stock and replenishing clinic rooms when required
