Stop Smoking Service Manager
Location: Southampton Contract: Full time (40 hours)
Salary: £40,000 Closing date: 21st December 2025

Solutions4Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead our Southampton Smokefree Solutions service, delivering high-quality stop smoking support across the city.
You will oversee day-to-day service operations, manage a team of Advisors and Quitline staff, and work closely with Primary Care Networks, pharmacies, GPs, commissioners and community partners. The role includes data monitoring and NHS Digital reporting, delivering practitioner training, supporting quality assurance, and coordinating local and national public health campaigns.
We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, experience in public health or community-based services, excellent communication abilities and a commitment to reducing health inequalities. Flexibility and the ability to travel across Southampton are essential.

Main duties of the job
Lead the day-to-day operational management of the Southampton Smokefree Solutions service.
Line-manage the Project Coordinator and Stop Smoking Advisors, including recruitment, induction, supervision, retention and annual appraisal.
Ensure staff have clear objectives, personal development plans and access to ongoing professional development.
Manage service rotas, ensuring clinic coverage and effective use of advisor time.
Oversee the delivery of Quitline services, including management of dedicated Quitline staff.
Develop, coordinate and implement innovative approaches to increase quit rates, particularly in targeted and deprived communities.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with GPs, pharmacies, PCNs, community and voluntary organisations, and statutory partners.
Represent the service at local strategic meetings and contribute to citywide tobacco control initiatives.
Lead the management of Level 2 pharmacy contracts across Southampton.
Provide advice, support and quality assurance to practitioners delivering stop smoking interventions within wider health and community settings.
Collect, collate and quality-assure smoking cessation data from practitioners across the city.
Produce regular reports on service performance, outcomes and activities for commissioners and internal stakeholders.
Monitor advisor performance to ensure compliance with standards and achievement of KPIs.
Deliver Level 2 stop smoking training, update training and Very Brief Advice (VBA) training.
Provide CPD opportunities, coaching, support and development to practitioners across the city.
Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies for smoking cessation interventions.
Lead and coordinate local and national public health campaigns across Southampton.
Support and coordinate community outreach, events and swap-to-stop initiatives
Ensure effective communication and timely information flow within the service and to external partners.
Carry out any reasonable duties aligned to the role and service needs.
Order and manage appropriate resources, ensuring expenditure is agreed with the Programme Director/Clinical Lead.
Maintain safe and appropriate storage of resources, ensuring value for money and minimising waste
