Permanent, Part Time 28 hours per week
Location: Primarily based at Doncaster, with outreach and community clinic work
We’re looking for an Integrated Sexual Health Nurse to join our friendly and committed team delivering high-quality care in contraception, STI testing and treatment, HIV services, and outreach work across Doncaster.
You’ll be an autonomous Registered Nurse (NMC) with experience in sexual health and relevant qualifications, including:
STIF Core & Foundation / STIF Intermediate (or willing to complete training)
DFSRH
Trained in IUD/IUS and Implant fitting
Proficient in Microscopy
Confident working under PGDs and ideally a Non-Medical Prescriber

Main duties of the job
To participate in ensuring the daily delivery of the Integrated sexual health service, to support junior nursing staff, respond to and address operational issues during the shift, during the absence of senior staff. To liaise with a multi-disciplinary team including clinical and non-clinical staff.
To undertake Nurse Led Clinical sessions including history taking and physical examinations of patients.
Provide direct patient care, providing high quality nursing advice and clinical treatment on all aspects of Contraception and sexual health
To work adhering to the patient group directives (PGDs) or to prescribe as an independent nurse prescriber including the prescription of hormonal contraception and STI treatment. The insertion and removal of IUD / IUS and implants.
To provide Safeguarding referrals, working to ensure the safe and effective communication between adult and children’s services.
To offer a high standard of confidential, sensitive and non-judgemental Contraceptive, Sexual Health & HIV Nursing care within the clinic setting respecting the cultural beliefs and practices of the local population.
To inform and advise patients about methods of contraception, the detection of sexually transmitted infections and risk reduction.
To assess patients and provide appropriate treatment and care, within the clinicians scope of practice.
Be proficient in sexual history taking consultations.
To perform clinical examinations as appropriate. To interpret the findings of history and examination and liaise with the senior nursing / medical team as necessary.
To record and perform an asymptomatic or symptomatic sexual health screening of male and female patients.
To undertake PrEP & PEP Clinics.
To give vaccinations as required to patients deemed at high risk of acquiring blood borne viruses.
To support women in making contraceptive choices that are person centred and providing complex contraception clinics including removal and insertion of IUD/IUS and Contraceptive Implants.
To perform venepuncture and point of care testing on patients.
To work mainly within the sexual health hub with occasional sessional clinics in spoke services across Doncaster.
To perform Microscopy in the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, or be prepared to develop and become proficient in this skill.
Competent in all aspects of safeguarding referrals.
