Job summary

Solutions4Health is an innovative company with a passion and a track record for tackling health inequalities. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Specialist Sexual Health Nurse who will be competent in screening, diagnosing/treating those with sexually

transmitted infections, initiating/changing /repeating methods of contraceptive and provide health promotion advice and support. The service is based in the very centre of Newcastle with good access to public transport links.

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

To provide level one sexual health services as a core requirement, as recommended by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health.

In addition, as a specialist aspect of the role dependent upon expertise provide level 2/3 services in screening,diagnosing/treating those with sexually transmitted infections. Initiating/changing /repeating methods of contraceptive, as recommended by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health

Provide health education including initiating referral for partner notification when required.

Provide wider sexual health advice and support around an integrated model

To contribute to pathways and systems development for the sexual health service

At all times to work in an autonomous capacity and as part of the multidisciplinary team.

To teach and mentor both pre and post registration nursing students and medical students/medical staff as required.

Follow PGD’s to dispense medications unless Nurse Prescriber

Required Skills/Qualifications

We are looking for the candidate to have the following:

  • Registered Nurse Level 1
  • ENB 276 or equivalent (Contraception course)
  • ENB 901/R71 or equivalent (Sexually transmitted infections course)
  • Possession of a Diploma or degree in Nursing or working towards it
  • ENB 998/C&G 730 or other recognized teaching qualification
  • Recognized Mentorship training and possession of a mentorship passport
  • Cervical smear course (or willingness to undertake)
