MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on the post holder’s initial experience, it is envisaged that the appointee will work with the consultant team to undertake STI clinic provision, which is the core expectation of this post. If the post holder has limited experience in sexual health, on-going training and development can be provided, as required.
If the post holder has HIV experience then they will support the existing team to provide one HIV clinic per week, with associated clinical admin. If there is no previous HIV experience, then it is not anticipated that the post holder will be trained up in HIV. However if there was a strong desire and interest, then this is something that could be discussed.
Similarly, if the post holder has contraception experience then they will support the team in this provision, with training provided for further development as needed.
The post holder will help to support and develop the Sexual Health Service in Doncaster. The post holder will share appropriately supported clinical responsibilities with professional colleagues and will actively contribute to the governance arrangements of the department. The post holder will be encouraged to contribute to audit and training activities.
The appointee will be expected to work with clinical colleagues supported by local managers in providing a safe, efficient and effective service for Doncaster Sexual Health.
Depending on experience, the post holder will take some responsibility for the training and supervision of departmental junior medical staff, alongside the consultant body.
The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the national SAS doctor contract. The allocation of time between the various duties of the post will be open to adjustment, depending on the post holder’s initial experience and in consultation with Consultant colleagues and Solutions4Health, but an example timetable may be as follows:
