Job summary
Ellern Mede are looking for an experienced Dietitian to join the team at our flagship hospital Ellern Mede Ridgeway based in Mill Hill, North London.
We are offering a full-time position: typical hours would be 09:00 - 17:30 Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To support the delivery and development of dietetics within the team
To work closely with the Ellern Mede multi-disciplinary team
To provide specialist dietetic advice and support to children, young people & their families receiving treatment at Ellern Mede.
To offer intensive dietetic support to young people, young adults & their families within the hospital setting, while on home leave and also preparing for discharge.
To have a highly flexible approach to work with a range eating disorder presentations.
To ensure that all patients are safeguarded from potential harm and to conduct activities in a manner which is consistent with professional practice, policy and legislation
About us
Ellern Mede Ridgeway hospital offers two treatment programmes, a Recovery Unit and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). We aim to stabilise patients’ physical and psychological states as rapidly as possible for transfer to step down service. The HDU admits patients whose illness requires more intense levels of clinical involvement and nursing. The service is able to admit patients requiring treatment under mental health legislation. The aims of the services are to improve the patients’ health and dependency needs sufficiently for transfer to a regular eating disorder unit or to the community.

Qualification & Experience
Essential
- Registered Dietitian with United Kingdom Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). A full member of the British Dietetic Association. 1 year full-time postgraduate Clinical Dietetic experience working with a wide range of presentations. 1 year full-time postgraduate Clinical Dietetic experience working with a wide range of presentations. Experience of working in Eating disorder is not absolutely necessary, training can be provided for a candidate with potential.
Desirable
- Experience of working with eating disorders.
- Experience of working in a mental health setting.
- Experience of working with Paediatrics.
- Experience with ED / paediatric work
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Up to date knowledge of current issues in eating disorders including MEED guidelines.
- Knowledge of evidence- based practice for supporting patients and carers.
- Working knowledge of legislation & its implications for both clinical practice & professional management in relation to the client group & mental health.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- Excellent time management
- Case load prioritisation and competency
- Good emotional Intelligence
- Able to reflect and think critically about work and professional development.
- IT including MS office, apps and an ability to use

- Experience of working with major eating disorders in different care settings.
