We are actively seeking healthcare assistant to join our team at Moorgate on our night shift team!!

Location: Moorgate, Rotherham

Salary: starting at £11.34 rising to £11.46 after successfully passing your probation

Hours: 12.5 hours per shift (including 1 hour unpaid break) - 7:45pm until 8:15am

We can offer 23 hours, 34.5 hours or 40.25 hours per week

On all shifts, you will be expected to work 2 weekend per month

Main duties of the job

As a healthcare assistant you will be working directly with our patients, being apart of their support network and patient care treatment. You will be expected to understand our patients needs as stated in their care plan and prioritise their well being at all times.

As a healthcare assistant you can expected to;

  • Implement care plan requirements
  • Assisting in feeds,
  • Partaking in various activities with our patients,
  • Attend to personal care needs,
  • Be involved in supervisions,
  • Always be vigilant and aware of the patients safety at all times,
  • Report any incidents and be aware of safeguarding,
  • Make our patients feel safe and respected,
  • And most importantly being someone they can trust.

Our Moorgate site, offers 12 inpatient beds across two units, Aztec and Inca, Aztec being for 18 to 25 year olds and Inca being for people under 18, as a healthcare assistant you will be expected to work on both wards.

Working with children and young people with eating disorders can be exceptionally challenging. You will need to be emotionally resilient at times, however you will be working as part of team who will support you as well.

What are we looking for?

  • Recently graduated with a degree in Psychology/Sociology/ Health care or of a similar discipline.
  • Individuals that are highly experienced in working in a health care setting.
  • Experience working with young children or within a CAMHS setting
  • Have knowledge or an understanding of eating disorders and patient treatment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The post holder carries out assigned tasks in support of and supported by a qualified nurse. Contribute to theprovision of high quality care for patients.
  • Work honestly and collaboratively as part of the ward team.
  • Work as directed by the named nurse to provide agreed individual or group work with named patients.
  • Workflexibly regarding shift and ward changes according to the needs of the Hospital
  • Provide reception and administrative cover as directed by the Management To maintain professional boundariesat all times
  • Undertake any reasonable request.

KEY DUTIES

  • To assist the patient to meet his or her needs in respect of activities of daily living and provide practical dayto day care under direction of the Nurses (i.e. personal care and hygiene, eating, attendance in education etc.
  • To co-operate with other members of the nursing team in ensuring a safe environment is maintainedfor the patients.
  • To ensure patients personal possessions and cash are effectively itemised, stored and managed.
  • To be responsible for the clinical and ward environment and to intervene in any situation which constitutesa potential risk to patients, staff or visitors.
  • To escort patients on outings and appointments and to plan and conduct such outings in a consideration ofNursing and Clinical Management.
  • To book visits to the ward and maintain a ward diary.
  • To ensure that all visitors to the ward are pre-approved by the MDT and are escorted and managed inaccordance with nursing plans.
  • To question unknown visitors to the site and ward to ensure the safety of patients and refuse entry ifnecessary.
  • To ensure that all patients are safeguarded from potential harm and to conduct activities in a manner whichis consistent with professional practice, policy and legislation.
  • To report any incident of concern to management.
  • To co-operate with other members of the nursing team to ensure the ward meets any therapeutic needsof the patient, which are conducive to recovery.
  • To communicate in a respectful manner, clearly and precisely with patients, staff, parents and visitors andin a way which is mindful of a supportive attitude to body image.
