Job summary
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Practice Manager to support the GP Partners & Practice Manager in effectively managing the wider practice team, patient services & overall smooth running of the surgery.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead on aspects of the day-to-day running of the surgery, with an emphasis on management of the practice team, patient services, building maintenance & IT systems.
They will also assist the GP Partners & Practice Manager with all other elements of managing the services provided at West Gorton Medical Centre and deputise for the Practice Manager during periods of absence.

West Gorton Medical Centre is a CQC Outstanding rated GP surgery in central Manchester, 10 minutes outside the city centre. We are situated in a regeneration area and have a growing list size, with currently over 7,500 patients. We are strongly invested in prioritising patient care and work hard to build links with our local community,
Our clinical team consists of three GP Partners, three salaried GPs, two Nurses, a Nurse Associate & a Pharmacist. We are a training practice, with three GP trainees currently working at the surgery. We are innovative in striving to meet the needs of our patient population and have implemented a Therapist to provide 1:1 yoga therapy sessions for our patients.
Our administrative team provide front-of-house & back-office support to the clinicians & registered patients.

Lead on or assist the Practice Manager & GP Partners with the below tasks to maintain the effective management of the Practice. This list is not exhaustive & may be added to at any time.
ORGANISATIONAL
- All aspects of building maintenance including Health & Safety
- Liaise with Practice Manager & GP Partners regularly
- Liaise with relevant staff within the PCN & locality to share learning & achieve objectives
- Liaise with commissioners regarding contracts & performance reporting
- Development & review of Policies & Procedures
- Maintain CQC compliance
- Handle patient complaint responses
- Process outgoing payments
- Reconciliation of payments in accountancy software
- Oversee stock ordering & rotation
- Coordination of quarterly Patient Participation Group
- Coordination of monthly staff training afternoon
- Any reasonable tasks requested by the Management Team
