Job summary

Here at University Southampton NHS Trust and Great Western Hospital, Serco provide a range of support services including catering - with our Patient and Retail Dining Teams providing nutritional and dietary expertise across the site. As our Dietician youll ensure that the 160,000+ inpatients and staff we support per year continue to have their therapeutic, cultural, religious and lifestyle dietary needs met. You will work primarily at UHS but will be required to support with dietary related activity at GWH one day per week.

Working with both the wider Serco team and the Trust, youll do this by providing comprehensive dietetic support and guidance that helps us to exceed high technical and legal standards. This will include conducting audits and reviews of our food service, investigating catering complaints and patient care incidents, conduct regular staff special diet and allergen training, and leading with menu planning.

In short, youll be the person we turn to for the expertise and specialist advice that will allow us to have a real impact on the standard of care patients and staff receive across the hospital. You wont be doing this alone though. As well as reporting into our Contract Director and the Serco Health Company Dietician, youll be working with colleagues who are every bit as passionate about improving the lives of patients as you are, in a company that lives by its core values of Care, Trust, Innovation and Pride.

First and foremost, you will have experience of working in a previous Dietitian role for either the NHS directly in a Trust or for a Health services provider. The ideal candidate should hold a Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics. You must hold current HCPC registration and BDA membership.

As you will be working with a variety of stakeholders across the contract, previous experience of working with catering managers and food service staff is preferred as the role will require you to support them with the delivery of special diet training, menu planning and menu analysis.

You must be able to demonstrate prior knowledge and experience of clinical audits; this includes stages such as developing, participating in, analysing, completing reports, and disseminating findings.
