The
Role:
Islington GP Federation
(IGPF) is looking for a Data Analyst who will be part of IGPF IT and Analytics
team.
The post holder will be a
key support role, directly working with the IT and Analytics teams and with
colleagues across a wide range of services and projects provided by IGPF.
- Current and ongoing
programs of work being undertaken by the analytics team include:
- Development
and maintenance of custom dashboards in PowerBI to provide regular performance
tracking at both practice and PCN level
- Providing ad-hoc pieces of analytics such as population breakdowns or
inequalities tracking
- Supplying patient lists to support patient recall services
- Maintaining the suites of primary care data queries used for performance
management across IGPF services such as Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) or Gynaecology
Collaborative
- Providing
advisory on national data obligations in Primary Care such as Impact and
Improvement Fund (IIF) or Quality of Outcomes Framework (QOF)
- EMIS expertise and engagement across several EMIS platforms
IGPF is working closely
with primary care colleagues to deliver ambitions of excellent provision of
care and looking at opportunities at scale optimising existing systems and
presenting new solutions.
The postholder will provide specialised data
support to a wide variety of services to inform clinical and operational decision
making across IGPF.
The role will be office based at Islington GP
Federation head office in Holloway. Following successful probation, the role
will be office based for four out of five days per week.
The
Successful Candidate:
- The successful candidate will be a skilled and adaptable data analyst
with a keen interest in healthcare and with experience of querying databases.
- The successful candidate will seek to utilise new analytics software
solutions to delivery high quality outcomes to stakeholders.
- The successful candidate will have great attention to detail and will
work with stakeholders to ensure that analytics solutions provided are
accurate.
- The successful candidate will be expected to fully understand key
performance indicators for each service, investigate and resolve any anomalies
with data outputs in collaboration with IGPF Senior Analyst and Service
leads.

Excel knowledge and an interest in Power BI.

About
Islington GP Federation
Islington GP
Federation (IGPF) is a growing organisation representing 31 practices; we have
established ourselves as a leader in new ways of working, including running
Islingtons extended access primary care services (I:HUB) as well as supporting
the Islington Primary Care Networks (PCNs). Our current range of services
include the Extended Access Service, I:HUB, Community Ear, Nose and Throat
(ENT), Integrated Community Gynaecology, practice-based pharmacists and a range
of practice support mechanisms.
IGPF works very
closely with a range of partners including the regional commissioning group,
NHS England, Healthy London Partnership, Public Health, local hospitals such as
UCLH, the Whittington Health and the London Borough of Islington.
IGPF is the
host organisation for the Primary Care Network (PCN) workforce and the
Islington Training Hub, and has been working for over two years to create
training and development programmes that meet the needs of staff working in
primary and community care settings.
IGPF runs four Islington GP practices, one on
a GMS contract, two on APMS contracts and one on a caretaking contract.
Job Responsibilities
Analytics:
- Utilise
strong analytics skills in Microsoft Excel to combine and aggregate Primary
Care data exports into accurate outcomes.
- Develop
and maintain bespoke dashboard visualisations in PowerBI going out to service
leads and other stakeholders.
- Presenting
findings and fielding subsequent questions to stakeholders and implementing
feedback.
- Evaluate
new analytics solutions by looking at costs, functionality and associated
benefits.
- Pursue new
opportunities for automation of existing data models and improved quality
assurance.
- Provide high quality, professional and customer
focused experience. This may include analysing situations, information and
supporting resolution.
EMIS Expertise:
- Understand
how the EMIS Primary Care database works at a system level have full
proficiency with its accompanying syntax to accurately extract required primary
care data.
- Construct
EMIS searches (queries) and generate matching reports to specification in a
clear presentable format.
- Work
closely with IT leads, Digital and Transformation Leads, Network and
Infrastructure manager to identify opportunities for improvement in EMIS
related outputs.
- Be
part of a program of ongoing qualitative review of existing EMIS searches.
- Understand
how service staff interact and enter data into EMIS in order to consult on what
forms of analytics support is appropriate/available.
- Utilise
strong understanding of Data Protection best practice to ensure all workstreams
and interactions with EMIS are fully compliant with GDPR.
IT support and Customer car
- Provide
frontline support to users of systems in response to service requirement where
possible.
- Actively
maintain knowledge of systems through continuous proactive learning.
- Promote
and implement appropriate use of patient data in line with GPDR and Data
Protection Act requirements.
- Be
a positive, proactive influence on colleagues and the wider team.
