JOB TITLE: Clinical Lead Haematology
REPORTING TO: Medical Director
LOCATION: Remote working

ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Clinical Lead role is pivotal, heading up the clinical
department, line managing and developing their team, supporting the development
of new models of care and providing leadership for continual quality
improvement. The clinical lead role is integral to the organisations governance
structures and is a member of the Clinical Governance Committee, which is
chaired by the Medical Director and reports to Medefers Board.
As a Clinical Lead and as part of a wider team, you will be
involved in successfully networking with local clinicians and healthcare
providers (both NHS and Private), implementing the service and then performance
monitoring it. It is acknowledged that Medefer is a growing organisation and
that the time requirements for the role will likely increase. Through mutual
discussion this might be met through extending the time commitment of the lead
and / or recruiting deputies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Membership and attendance of the Clinical
Governance Committee, ensuring that it fulfils its duties as stated in the
terms of reference.
Reporting to the Medical Director or Deputy
Medical Director.
Leading and line managing their speciality
department and clinical workforce within it.
Attending regular clinical leads meetings.
Being available to attend clinical pathway /
engagement meetings with our partners when reasonably possible.
Undertaking regular reviews and audits of
clinician performance under their purview and provide feedback on an ongoing
basis.
Provide leadership for developing Medefers
evolving model of care, encompassing clinical effectiveness, patient safety and
patient experience.
Promote and lead a culture of safety and quality
enacting Medefers policies including the Significant Events and Complaints
policies. Point of escalation for departmental concerns.
Oversee the development and implementation of
the departmental Clinical Workforce Strategy.
Responsible for Medefer consultants and junior
doctors within the department and involved in recruitment, on-boarding and
performance management. Timely response to requests for clinical lead sign off
interviews.
Support the human resources department to ensure
that their clinical team meet the requirements for practicing privileges
Oversee and deliver the annual appraisal process
for departmental clinicians.
Support the Chief Medical Officer (Responsible
Officer) and Medical Director to ensure that Medefer meets the requirements for
the Care Quality Commission and clinical quality components of our contractual
obligations.
Work with the Chief Executive Officer and
Medical Director to implement Medefers Vision and Strategy.
The role is remote working and the expectation
is that the majority of the work will be done outside of the standard 9-5
working day. The Clinical Lead would be expected to have an agreement in
principle with their NHS Trust to be available for at least one hour per week
(0.25 PA) during the standard working week. This would enable them to attend
meetings with Medefer on occasions as required.
The time commitment and payment equates to 1 PA
per week (4 hours) but it is understood that this will be worked flexibly.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Substantive Consultant with at least 3 years in
practice.
Senior leadership experience at Clinical Lead or Clinical Director level would be ideal.
Interested in digital health / clinical
informatics / new ways of working.
Ability to manage a team of clinicians.
Excellent time management, planning and
prioritising skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and
written.
Adaptable, flexible and an ability to
multi-task.
Positively contributes to change initiatives.
Creative thinker who is able to identify new
opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices
and using innovative thinking.
Excellent teamworking skills, supportive of
others and confident in sharing knowledge willingly.
Experience in conflict resolution, and able to

TERMS
This is a permanent position being offered on a part-time
basis.

will be expected to perform additional duties and tasks that may be assigned by
management from time to time to suit business needs.
