team at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea. You will be delivering the highest
standard of physiotherapy support to individuals or groups of patients on the
ward and in the out-patient department within agreed guidelines, standard
operating procedures and protocols and after completing appropriate competencies
You will be developing and adjusting
said treatment programmes in keeping with the individual patients needs and
goals and following consultation with the physiotherapist.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the physiotherapist,
you will identify the need to re-evaluate, progress and/or terminate treatment
intervention for patients if required.

Job responsibilities
To undertake delegated tasks as directed
by registered practitioner. Undertake routine assessments of patients with
specific conditions (subjective and objective assessments) using specific
framework.
To
work safely and appropriately in an unsupervised capacity as part of the
team, assessing and treating patients individually or in a group in a variety
of settings including the out-patient department and the ward environment.
Where appropriate, advise carers and
relatives, providing direction and guidance on a range of therapy and mobility
activities as part of own clinical work or as directed by the
physiotherapist.
Understand a wide range of conditions
within the designated specialty and develop and maintain own knowledge of the
specialty area.
Assist patients before, during and
following treatment, ensuring their safety, comfort, privacy and dignity.
Be a point of contact for patients who
need safer handling equipment, walking aids or splints, to issue these aids
and modify them if necessary, including educating patients regarding their
safe use.
The post holder will be expected to
have the physical skills to carry out an array of physiotherapy treatment
programmes e.g. ability to demonstrate the rehabilitation exercises given to
patients, the ability to get on and off the floor, ability to kneel,
assist/move a patients limb, facilitate walking, transfers, gait
re-education, stairs, and use a variety of hoists and push wheelchairs is
essential.
To keep the department/area of work
tidy, clean, monitor and replenish the physiotherapy equipment and stock
regularly and ensure that damaged or problem equipment is reported to line
manager immediately.
Answer
telephone calls, take messages, and refer calls as appropriate whilst
adhering to confidentiality requirements.
Record and report information onto
patient records in written and electronic format, including assisting generic
admin duties to assist the team.
