Job summary
Tired of ordinary: Good, so are we.
This is a senior clinical leadership role for a pharmacist who wants to raise the good kind of hell in medicines optimisation. As Head of Medicines Optimisation at Spirit Health, you will lead our Meds Op services end-to-end, shaping ideas, building services, and delivering real-world impact for patients, clinicians and the NHS.
You will be trusted to set the clinical direction, act as Spirits safeguarding lead, and champion safe, effective, people-first service delivery. From designing commercially viable NHS services to supporting and developing clinical teams, you will turn bold thinking into services that stand up, scale up and make healthcare easier.
This role is for someone who moves fast, thinks sharp and never settles for good enough. You will bring deep NHS insight, strong leadership and the confidence to challenge, influence and deliver even when things get complex. You will work closely with GP practices, Primary Care partners and internal teams, taking services from concept to rollout with energy, care and accountability.
At Spirit, were family with purpose. We back each other, speak honestly, and go after what matters. If you are driven by impact, thrive in pace and ambiguity, and want your expertise to genuinely matter you will feel right at home here.
Ready to bring the brilliance? Lets make health easy.
Main duties of the job
Youll lead our Medicines Optimisation work with clarity, confidence and pace setting direction, making sound clinical decisions, and keeping quality and safety front and centre.
Youll shape new medicines optimisation services, working with NHS partners to turn opportunities into practical, deliverable solutions that create real value. From early ideas through to mobilisation, youll guide services into the real world and make sure they land well.
Youll support, coach and challenge our clinical teams, creating the right environment for people to do great work and grow their expertise. Youll also provide clear clinical assurance internally and externally, giving confidence to colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
Youll work closely with senior leaders, governance groups and partners to manage clinical risk, maintain strong oversight, and continuously improve how our services run. Alongside this, youll act as Spirits safeguarding lead, ensuring best practice is embedded across everything we do.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys variety, moves comfortably between strategy and delivery, and takes pride in building services that genuinely improve patient care.
