Job summary

An exciting opportunity has been developed for a Dietician to join our team supporting with health inequalities. This role will be for 1 day a week.

This role is part of the partnership between Maidstone Borough Council and West Kent Primary Care (WKPC), targeted to the local population of Maidstone and is working to try and address the experiences of health inequalities.

As part of a health inequalities project in Maidstone, the post holder will work alongside a Diabetic Specialist Nurse at Shepway Community Larder, providing support and dietary advice to people visiting the community larder.

Main duties of the job

The Dietician will be a highly skilled, senior practitioner able to operate at an expert level of practice, and knowledge in the management of patients dietary issues and conditions.

The Dietician will provide interventions for food larder visitors, discussing dietary needs, undertaking initial clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of their care in consultation with the service user. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for people within the food larder setting. They will work collaboratively with the general practice multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, providing dietetic leadership as required.

Essential

  • BSc in Dietetics under a training programme approved by the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Able to operate at an advanced level of clinical practice

Desirable

  • Pre-reg MSc in Dietetics under a training programme approved by the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Completed or working towards a Supplementary Prescribing qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in applying the dietetic process to include dietetic assessment, interpretation, individual care planning, motivation, monitoring and evaluation of highly specialized dietetic treatment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and GPIT systems, alongside prescribing data monitoring systems
  • Experience of senior level decision making and delivery in a changing environment

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders
