Job summary
North East Essex Diabetes Service (NEEDS) is an award-winning, progressive service comprising three Diabetes Consultants/Endocrinologists, Specialist Diabetes Practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds, and a highly valued administrative team. We provide specialist diabetes care to approximately 25,000 people across North East Essex, including clinics for complex diabetes, young people, pre-pregnancy and antenatal care, insulin pump therapy and multidisciplinary foot services. We deliver local and national structured diabetes education programmes and place a strong emphasis on supporting and upskilling primary care through education sessions, mentorship and in-practice support. We also contribute to a wider programme of health professional education and upskilling across North East Essex. We work closely with community services, lifestyle services, mental health services, pharmacy teams and the ICB. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team committed to patient-centred, safe and high-quality care, and we foster a supportive learning environment with regular CPD, supervision and development opportunities to support evidence-based practice.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 equivalent Specialist Diabetes Clinican to join our integrated multidiscilplinary diabetes team.
- Main duties of the Job : This post involves working across specialist community services and primary care, with close links to secondary care. The role includes managing a clinical caseload under appropriate supervision, applying specialist diabetes knowledge (including diabetes technologies), and contributing to the delivery of education for patients, carers and healthcare professionals. This role would suit a motivated and enthusiastic clinician who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team and is developing confidence in specialist diabetes practice. You will have a minimum 3-years post-registration experience, including some experience in diabetes care gained through a relevant role or study. Experience in supporting education delivery, group facilitation or presentations would be welcomed but is not essential, as training and mentorship will be provided.
