An exciting career opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join The Very Important Invitation Project as a Cervical Screening Community Outreach Nurse.
We are looking for registered cervical screening sample takers who are proactive and dynamic to contribute to improving access and patient experience and to help drive the project forward.
You will work as part of a team with a diverse background to help increase cervical screening uptake through our local engagement project delivering trustworthy information about the national routine cervical screening programme and potential barriers, whilst continuously developing the Federations health engagement and outreach ambitions. You will facilitate health education events, workshops, teaching sessions and presentations in a variety of settings and identify strategic partnerships with organisations and stakeholders which promote health education.
Main duties of the job
Youll work co-productively in initiating and achieving targets to support the Federation to achieve its overall mission as well as increasing the Federations influence and its expertise through developing new and existing relationships with stakeholders across Suffolk.
Youll motivate and inspire by engaging staff and volunteers in the primary purpose of the project by delivering trustworthy information and education about routine cervical screening, possible barriers, and health inequalities in relation to cervical screening uptake.
Youll conduct assessments and surveys to determine health education needs.
Youll collaborate with health specialists and stakeholders to achieve sustainable results.

We are a not-for-profit, community interest company and our main purpose is to support Primary Care across Suffolk, including support with working collaboratively and at scale. We also deliver a portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes, as well as Urgent Care Services including the Out of Hours face-to-face Service in Suffolk.

We will work alongside the successful candidate to ensure they are sufficiently inducted and trained; there will be regular constructive supervision in place. It is important to us that you feel safe and supported in the role.
We are looking for someone who is;
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic and an innovative team player who enjoys a varied workload
- A current registered cervical screening sample taker with at least 2 years clinical experience
- Passionate about improving health inequalities and creating equal access to healthcare
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills
- Able to create presentations with good IT skills
- Keen to develop into a health education role
Contract type: This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2026. Dependant on funding, it may be possible to extend this contract.
This position is 15 to 22 hours per week split across two or three days. This will be discussed at interview.
