Job summary

  • Youll need to have proven experience of working within an MSP/IT Solution company, and if you have Microsoft related qualifications this would be an advantage to your application.
  • You will need to have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Operations Systems both desktop and server.
  • To succeed in this role, youll need to have access to transport due to the various sites we run services from.

Contract type:

This role is a full-time position, working Monday Friday. There will be inclusion in the on-call rota to support the Out of Hours service.

Technical Support Engineer

We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our IM&T team.

What is the role?

  • You will work as part of a skilled support and helpdesk team, providing all levels of support, administration, and customer service to users across Suffolk GP Federation.
  • Youll be responsible for responding to 1 and 2 line remote requests in a timely manner escalating to the Technical Manager or IT Leads where appropriate.
  • You will understand and implement computer repair techniques with hardware and software issues in a workbench, safe test environment.

Job Purpose

The postholder will work as part of a skilled support and helpdesk team providing all levels of support, administration, and customer service to users across Suffolk GP Federation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

To take helpdesk calls, logging and tracking calls ensuring that all issues are managed and resolved.

To understand and implement computer repair techniques with hardware and software issues in a workbench and safe test environment.

To work as an integral part of the IM&T helpdesk / support team to respond to 1st and 2nd line remote requests in a timely manner escalating to the Technical Manager or IT Leads where appropriate.

To liaise with 3rd party vendors regarding service escalation and authorised RMAs.

To assist with the installation of hardware, software and networking equipment, ensuring a seamless integration and functionality with minimal disruption to services.

To have a proactive approach to Information Security to ensure the continue integrity of the organisation.

To attend site visits where required.

To be included on the on-call rota to provide support to the Federations Out of Hours service that runs across Suffolk in evenings, and weekends.

To undertake any other ad hoc duties as requested by the IT Leads, Technical Manager or IM&T Manager.
