This is a permeant, full time role working Monday-Thursday 08:30-17:30, and Fridays 08:30-15:30, however there will also be participation in the on-call rota. Travel across Suffolk will be required for this position to visit our services.

Main duties of the job

Technical Manager

We are looking for a Technical Manager to join our newly formed in-house IT team who will act as a subject matter expert and an escalation point for the current Helpdesk / Support team.

What is the role?

  • Youll be responsible for working closely with the IT Leads to actively manage, review, and develop systems and processes to ensure the security of the Feds infrastructure and information systems.
  • You will be involved in monitoring, reporting, and then communicating performance metrics against the digital service availabilities the team provides to the team management.
  • Youll be responsible for performing the installation of hardware, software and public cloud implementations and carrying out general maintenance such as upgrades and automations.

About us

You will join our IM&T team, a newly formed in house IT team who support all services that the Federation provide. We are a not-for-profit, community interest company and our main purpose is to support Primary Care across Suffolk, including support with working collaboratively and at scale. We also deliver a portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes, as well as Urgent Care Services including the Out of Hours face-to-face Service in Suffolk.

  • Its essential that you have one of the following qualifications: CISSP, CISMP, CISM or Security +.
  • You will have a proven track record of working within a similar IT Management position previously, if this has been within the health care sector this would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • You will need high level technical project management skills in order to succeed in this position, and will also have broad-spectrum experience and knowledge of facilities infrastructure.

Job Purpose

The postholder will act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for the IM&T Helpdesk / Support team. They will be responsible for performing the installation of hardware, software and public cloud implementations and carry out maintenance including applicable upgrades, automations, optimisations and decommissioning for the core digital infrastructure team services or products in line with standard operating procedures. The postholder will act as a technical resource for IM&T projects, ensuring that each project meets its objectives on time and within the resources allocated to it. Working with the IT Leads to actively manage, review, and develop systems and processes to ensure the security of the Federations infrastructure and information systems.

To work with the IM&T Manager and IT Leads to ensure the delivery and continuity of services across the organisation, ensuring that relevant product and services are available, with functionality that fully supports operational requirements.

To understand the organisations drivers and ethos, working across NHS organisations to implement technology into clinical pathways, in scope, on time and in budget.

To identify NHS local economies of scale, working with other NHS leads on availability of funding or access to equipment

To be the escalation point for Helpdesk technical queries

To maximise user (staff) experience by collaborative design and development of platforms and solutions that are user friendly with gold standard support mechanisms to maintain engagement and ease common frustrations

To manage User Acceptance of new implementations & systems

To ensure Asset and Information tracking systems in place and monitored

To support with the development of a range of cyber security products and services including proactively assessing and investigating potential items of risk and of vulnerabilities in ICT systems.

To lead and manage security and cyber hygiene of our networks, systems, cloud hosted solutions and in relation to agile working

To ensure that personal data and other information assets are secured whilst enabling open and modern secure digital services.

To maintain an excellent knowledge of information security principles and practices ensuring timely technical support is provided to satisfy organisation needs.

To remain familiar at a high level in all aspects of complex and contemporary hybrid technologies and IT systems, architecture, and technical project delivery with a people first approach
