  • You will have significant generalist HR management experience and will be confident in handling employee relation cases
  • You will have direct reports, so you must be someone who has managed small teams before and who understands the need for the team to collaborate across all parts of the Federation.
  • You will be able to influence and support other managers in the organisation with change, as well as the day-to-day operational and generalist HR management.

HR Manager

Following an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for an HR Manager to lead our HR function and team. Were looking for a driven individual to coach and guide managers with the full HR life cycle and embed the Federations culture and approach. The Federations HR Manager is a senior HR generalist position, reporting the Partnerships & Development Director, with responsibility for the Workforce Domain within our integrated governance framework.

As well as the Federation's HR, you will also support our HR Advice Service where we work with around 11 GP Practice Managers. The objective is to create a common human resource landscape across our member practices, supporting them with their HR needs.

Job Purpose

The Federation HR Manager is a senior HR generalist position with responsibility for the management of the Federations internal Human Resources function serving a 600+ workforce. Key responsibilities include leading the HR team successfully, supporting with their development; coaching and guiding managers with the full HR life cycle, embedding the Federation culture and approach; leading and supporting with projects. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities

To lead the Federations internal HR function and be the HR Lead for the organisation

Coach and develop managers to give feedback and/or manage issues informally with their staff, minimising escalation to formal processes where appropriate

o To provide ongoing support and advice to line managers and staff in a way that delivers improved patient services and individual performance and enhances staff engagement and wellbeing

o To work in partnership with managers across the organisation to develop HR capacity by training, supporting and empowering line managers to effectively manage their staff and embed the Federation culture and approach

To work with and provide expertise to line managers to ensure that ER issues are dealt with in line with HR policies ensuring the risk to the organisation is minimised and ensuring that every member of staff is treated fairly and in accordance with our people not process ethos

To form strong working relationships with the Head of Community Services, Head of Urgent Care Services and Service Managers to deliver an effective and responsive HR service

To provide consistent and fair HR support and advice to the workforce

To be the main point of contact for the Federation HR Advice Service, supporting Practice Managers with their HR queries and cases, providing timely and expert advice.

To work with the Medical Director to drive forward the Federations Equality, Diversity and Inclusion programme

  • Degree in a relevant subject and / or CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification (or part way through)

Desirable

  • Coaching, mentoring or training qualification

Knowledge & Experience
