NHS Derby and Derbyshire ICB Pharmacy Team are seeking qualified pharmacy technicians with experience of working in primary care to contribute to the development and implementation of the medicines optimisation plan. You should have a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ level 3, be registered or eligible to register with the GPhC, and have demonstrable post-qualification experience.

The role will be based either at The Council House in Derby or Scarsdale in Chesterfield. There is a requirement to travel to GP practices across Derbyshire.

Derby & Derbyshire ICB organisation is now working to a hybrid model, with staff splitting their time between base, GP practices and working remotely.

Interview dates 12/13th February 2025.

Main duties of the job

Working with a number of GP practices across Derbyshire you will be delivering prescribing related cost-efficiencies and minimising medicines waste in line with agreed standard operating procedures.

Providing education, advice and support to practices to improve the safety, quality and cost effectiveness of prescribing.

Retrieve, analyse, interpret, and present patient related prescribing and clinical data from practice clinical computer systems and written notes to allow a clinical decision about medicines to be made by the clinician.

Implement prescribing changes and inform the patient, practice staff and local community pharmacies.

Deliver education to health care professionals, care home and social care staff, patients and the public to promote effective medicines optimisation.

Liaise with GPs, secondary care, community social care, community pharmacy, other providers, patients and carers to deliver medicines optimisation.

Maintain confidentiality at all times in line with data protection and Caldicott guidance.
