Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Service Development and Integration Senior Manager within the Age Well portfolio on a permanent basis within NCL ICB's Strategy and Population Health Directorate.

This role is ideal for individuals who are motivated by improving the health of NCL's 1.7m residents and recognise the strategic significance of community services in addressing the most significant and systemic challenge facing the NHS - the over reliance on acute care. This challenge was outlined in the recent Darzi report which also called for a left-shift in resource allocation towards community care. In NCL we are leading the way nationally in demonstrating how this can be done and scaling the approach. Ideal candidates will be excited by the potential to work on this challenge at such a critical moment in the NHS's history as the 10-year plan is being developed and the role of ICBs are changing.

NHS North Central London ICB was the first system to create a 'Core Offer' of community services, describing the minimum threshold of community services available to residents regardless of which Borough they live in. We secured system-wide commitment to invest over £50m over 5 years. In 23/24 we were recognised by NHS Confederation as a national best practice example of community transformation and for 24/25 we agreed a £3m reallocation of funding from acute to community services.

Main duties of the job

This role will be working closely with the Assistant Director for Community Service Development to deliver in three critical areas:

  • Ensuring continued support Core Offer Programme by demonstrating impact and facilitating the most effective allocation of funding at Executive Board Level
  • Supporting the implementation the most innovative aspects of our Core Offer investments focused on digital transformation
  • Supporting NCL's national work in convening community services commissioners, developing thought leadership and collaborating with NHSE and NHS Confed to influence the 10-year plan.

About us

NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) is a statutory body responsible for planning and allocating health and care resources to improve the lives of people in our five boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Islington.

As an ICB, we are focused on:o improving outcomes in population health and healthcareo tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience, and accesso enhancing productivity and value for moneyo helping the NHS support broader social and economic development.

It is an exciting time to be joining NCL ICB - we have commenced an organisational change programme to redesign the structure of the organisation and the way that we work to better meet the needs of our population, our people, our system, and our partners. As part of the organisational change programme, we want to re-launch and re-energise the organisation, embed new ways of working and building the capabilities we need to create a thriving organisational culture.
