Job summary

These roles provide an excellent opportunity for registered pharmacy technicians to work alongside experienced medicines optimisation pharmacists and support staff in the newly created single NCL Medicines Optimisation team.

The purpose of these posts is to support the Medicines Optimisation Team in delivering the medicines optimisation strategy and workplan for residents, patients and healthcare partners. The roles require the postholder to have experience of working with a wide range of healthcare professionals, exceptional organisational skills and high aptitude to forward planning.

There are three individual posts and these provide dedicated support to the following specialisms within the Medicines Optimisation team as described below:

  • Post 1: Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Quality and Improvement - focus on medicines quality and safety and improvement
  • Post 2: Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Planning and Operations - focus on hyper local operational support across the five boroughs within NCL
  • Post 3: Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Strategy and Programme - focus on commissioning, contracting, transformational programmes and analytic

Main duties of the job

The Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician posts have a similar core function - main duties and responsibilities include: -

  • Supporting implementation of the ICB's medicines optimisation agenda including high quality, safe and cost-effective prescribing.
  • To develop and maintain good working relations with all ICB and general practice staff.
  • Responsibility for the development of resources to support the provision of education and training to practice staff and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
  • To provide professional support to relevant committees by taking minutes, follow up on actions, sending out consultations, engaging with other committees (minutes / issues), maintaining database of decisions
  • To support the development, implementation and evaluation of medicines related audits.
  • To help support community pharmacy locally commissioned services and prepare monthly payment schedules (as applicable).

The interview will include an exercise/assessment task - shortlisted candidates will be provided with details on notification of interview.
