Job summary
At BSW ICB we adopt a "Think Family" approach to Safeguarding and are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner to support this model of delivery for our children, families, and adults. You will be part of the Swindon locality Safeguarding team but work closely with colleagues across Banes and Wiltshire, providing cover and support where needed.
You will provide professional advice and guidance toprimary careon issues relating to safeguarding and support the development of local leadership to promote the strategic priorities of current and new models of safeguarding partnership working, embedding good practice and reflective learning in Primary Care. You will be passionate about the promotion of multi-agency/multi-disciplinary working within key safeguarding principles and statutory requirements. You will help develop and deliver safeguarding training for Primary Care across Swindon.
You will be a key part of the BSW Safeguarding team who are working to ensure that Safeguarding is Everybody's business.
Main duties of the job
The Safeguarding Specialist Nurse will be required to:
- Model and embody a reflective, learning approach throughout their practice.
- Communicate the need to safeguard children and adults, including Children Looked After, effectively within the ICB and partner agencies.
- Work effectively and securely with highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Will be collocated within Swindon Borough Council when working within the MASH arrangement.
- Gathering and providing health information and opinion from all health providers to be shared within the Adult MASH on individual cases.
- On a rotational basis ensure daily cover to the Adult MASH "huddle" to ensure the health information is provided in a timely way.
- Providing health intelligence and oversight from within the adult MASH team and share the themes to providers to improve the quality of health referrals and outcomes.
- Gather information for and provide information to the local MARAC for Primary Care, attending MARAC as the Primary Care representative. Ensure that all work is documented within the patient record.
- Work closely with partner agencies to strengthen the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements through participation in local safeguarding activity and implementation of action plans resulting from reviews of practice.

- Evaluate standards of professional behaviour, using this to support investigations, making recommendations and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Be a source of advice, knowledge and support to GP practices.
- Provide safe information sharing between primary care and multi-agency groups relating to domestic abuse and violence, contextual safeguarding and high-risk behaviours.
- Work with ICB Safeguarding Leads, the Named GP, Practice Safeguarding Leads, and other partners to address identified issues as they occur.
- Work with ICB Designated Nurses and the Named GP to disseminate findings from SCRs, SIs, DHRs, Child Death Overview Panels and other learning from incidents, across practices.
- Promote the recording of lived experiences and planned outcome for vulnerable children, young people.
- Be responsible for ongoing education and training in line with the responsibilities of the Safeguarding Team.
