The closing date is 15 August 2025

Job summary

Please note ; the base for this role is to be confirmed and discussed at interview

We are seeking experienced and highly motivated General Dental Practitioners to join the Yorkshire & Humber Dental Commissioning Team as Dental Clinical Advisors. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and assuring the quality of NHS dental services across South Yorkshire (SY), West Yorkshire (WY), and Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY). As a Dental Clinical Advisor, you will work closely with commissioners and practices to uphold clinical governance, support service improvement, advise on professional standards, and provide expert input into complaint resolution, performance management, and service development. This advisory role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality NHS dental care across the region. The role is offered at two sessions per week per ICB, with preference given to candidates able to cover a single ICB, although applicants interested in covering multiple areas are also welcome

Main duties of the job

Provide high-level clinical advice to support NHS dental commissioning across SY, WY, and HNY. Lead on case investigations, complaints, and performance reviews, including site visits and clinical record audits. Contribute to quality improvement plans, infection control oversight, and professional standards panels. Engage with stakeholders across regulatory, clinical, and commissioning bodies. The role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and independently. A commitment to high standards of care, integrity, and a sound understanding of NHS dental governance is essential.

About us

The Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) Dental Commissioning Team is hosted by Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Integrated Care Board (ICB) but works across the 3 ICB areas of HNY, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

Through a hybrid working environment of both home-working, in-office days, and practice visits you will work with like-minded individuals who are keen to improve access to dental services and to improve health outcomes of those living across Y&H. It is a hard-working and busy team, with many competing priorities, but very rewarding and fast-paced, with plenty of opportunity to learn from others and develop your skills. The roles offer a unique opportunity to join a relatively new team, to help shape services and to deliver on emerging national priorities for dental services.
