Job summary
Due to the retirement of the
existing post holder an exciting secondment opportunity has arisen. It is
anticipated that the post will eventually be recruited to substantively,
however, as a restructure is in progress, it is not possible to substantively
recruit at this stage. A secondment will ensure business continuity for the
safeguarding team while the restructure consultation concludes and give a
development opportunity for the post-holder during the period of secondment.
The
Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children in Care is a statutory role outlined
in Promoting the Health Needs of Looked after Children ( 2015 ) . The post
holder will lead strategically to ensure that the health needs of Children in
Care and care leavers are promoted and met across the health economy.
Additionally,
the post holder will support and deputise for the Designated Nurses for
Safeguarding Children to fulfil the statutory role of
Designated Nurse for Safeguarding Children as defined in Working Together to
Safeguard Children (2023) and the Intercollegiate Guidance (2019).
Main duties of the job
The
post holder will provide assurance both internal (ICB) and external (safeguarding
partnerships) in relation to legislative requirements and quality of health
services for children in care and care leavers.
The
post holder will work with stakeholders and be a member of the Corporate
Parenting Board and related subgroups in order to support health service
planning and commissioning of services.
The
post holder will work with the Named Nurse Children in Care, the Local
Authority NYY and the providers commissioned to complete IHA's and RHA's to
ensure that these are undertaken within statutory time frames and are of the
expected quality .
The
post holder will work with other Children in Care Colleagues within the ICB and
with partners to develop a care leavers offer.
The
post involves leading on and supporting the Designated Nurses in all activities
necessary to ensure that NYY place and the wider ICB and provider organisations
within the health economy are able to meet all statutory responsibilities to
respond to the health needs for children in care
Work
with Designated professionals to ensure that the ICB safeguarding children's & Children in Care
policies are up to date and compliant with national and local legislation and
guidelines, reviewing as necessary.
