Job summary

We are recruiting an experienced clinician to support the transformation of pathways and services relating to Prevention across the East Riding of Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to join our established clinical leadership team across Hull and ERY Places. The programme has the scope to improve care and outcomes for thousands of patients.

As Clinical Lead you will be a key leader within place-based partnerships. You will bring clinical insight into transforming services and pathways with a particular focus on cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal diseases. You will provide leadership, establish strong relationships and use your influence to effect change. You will work with ICB CVD Prevention and Transformation Programme Mangers, and will be part of a network of Prevention Clinical Leads across the ICB.

A self starter, you will work as part of a wider team of Clinical Leads across Hull and East Riding and the wider ICB.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will:

  • Provide strategic clinical leadership to the East Riding Place in relation to prevention activities, focusing on cardio-, and cerebrovascular disease in the first instance, with acknowledgement of the cross-over with renal and metabolic diseases.
  • Work closely with the Hull Clinical Lead for Prevention, and other ICB colleagues, including Clinical Leads for Prevention, and Place colleagues to bring a clinical perspective to the available data, turning it into actionable intelligence to drive change.
  • Develop reports and use these to effect change across the East Riding Place, and work collaboratively to understand what has, and has not worked in other Places to share learning.

Focus on areas such as clinical pathways, population health, collaborative-led programmes, education and talent management

Management and Leadership Responsibilities

This role will take the clinical lead on prevention. There are no staff for whom the postholder has sole/overall line management responsibility.

Planning and Organisational Responsibilities

This role will need to develop or contribute to plans to review commissioning statements and pathways, with a focus on cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic conditions but may also be required to be involved with other pathways.

Policy and Service Development Responsibilities

The postholder will provide expert advisory capacity on clinical or public health knowledge, standards and practice, across the spectrum of relevant policy development where necessary, and this may include leading on policy development for specific issues or topics.

Research and Audit Responsibilities

The postholder will be expected to develop and utilise information and intelligence systems and will promote use of research evidence to underpin clinical / public health action across disciplines and organisations, leading collation and interpretation of relevant data.

The postholder will be expected to undertake audit of their own practice and contribute to directorate and cross-directorate audit work.

Managing Resources Responsibilities

The postholder will not be responsible for any specific budget, but they will be aware of the impact their advice might have in respect of use of ICB resources and will seek appropriate support with decisions about high-cost interventions.

  • Clinical /care professional registration in good standing with the relevant regulatory body (including, but not limited to the GMC, HCPC, UKPHR, etc.)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Excellent appreciation of the relationship between the ICB, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
  • In-depth understanding of the NHS, social care, and local authority landscape and interdependencies

Desirable

  • Expertise in primary care development and/or professional education and development
