Our Medicines Management Team provides a highly specialised, responsive service to North Yorkshire and York as part of the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB). This expert, clinical, evidence based service enables the safe, secure and effective use of medicines as well as the introduction of new and innovative medicines within a managed process. The service is well respected, has strong and positive relationships with its GP practices and local NHS trusts and has an enviable reputation in the encouragement of high quality and cost-effective prescribing, releasing high levels of savings from NHS medicines expenditure as part of the QIPP programme.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 new Medicines Optimisation Technicians to join our team. As a key member you will support the implementation of the ICB's medicines related strategies and policies in local practices. There will be a specific focus on cost effective prescribing in line with local and national priorities and policies.
This post will be a combination of office, GP Practice and home working.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role:
To provide Medicines Management Support to GP practices in North Yorkshire and York:
o Aid with cost effective medicines prescribing in GP practices.
o Liaise with patients when needed in relation to their medication
o Medicines related audit.
o Liaise with community pharmacy, practice staff and nursing teams in relation to prescribing.
o Provide prescribing information to GP practices both routine and ad-hoc.
o Utilisation of computer systems including GP Clinical systems, e-PACT, PrescQIPP and other systems
