Job summary
As a Safeguarding Specialist
Nurse (adults and children) for Primary Care you will be an integral part of
the safeguarding team across North Yorkshire and York Place which is part of
Humber and North Yorkshire ICB. You will
collaborate closely with the Designated Professionals responsible for adults
and children, the Primary Care Named Nurse, Primary care providers, and Named
GPs.
As a
safeguarding specialist you will work to ensure that expert advice, training
and support is available to all staff working within primary care in relation
to the safeguarding and protection of children and adults with care and support
needs.
As
Safeguarding Specialist Nurse for Primary Care you will also be a highly
visible member of the team, deputising for the Named Nurse for Safeguarding in
Primary Care as appropriate, and taking the lead on specific safeguarding
initiatives and ongoing projects with the support of the Named Nurse.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be
self-motivated and the ability to work on their own initiative. They will be a
good team player and have the ability to work to deadlines and prioritise their
own workload.
The
post holder will be required to support the Named Nurse, Named GPs and
Designated Professionals to ensure that NYY Place deliver on their statutory
safeguarding responsibilities.
The
post holder will act as a professional nursing resource for safeguarding advice
to the NYY place, and other commissioners of health services. This may require
giving advice to, or providing a portal for seeking advice from senior
colleagues when required.
The
successful candidate will act as a professional nursing resource for
safeguarding advice to primary care practices across NYY and support the
development and delivery of safeguarding adult and children training for
Primary Care staff and Multi agency partners.
The
post holder will support the process for completion of Child Safeguarding Practice
Reviews (CSPR); Safeguarding Adult
Reviews (SAR); Domestic Homicide Reviews and other statutory or
discretionary reviews. The successful candidate will also support the Named Nurse and Designated
Professionals through any regulatory single or multi-agency inspection
processes and the development, implementation and monitoring of subsequent
complex action plans in relation to primary care.

- Current NMC Registration Nurse Level 1.
- First level degree in a professionally related subject or equivalent.
- Evidence of study at Master's level or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
