Job summary

Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance is seeking an energetic, creative and self-motivated Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to join our team.

The successful applicant will have a flair for writing, be forward thinking and understand the many different methods and channels the Cancer Alliance can utilise to share its communications with a wide variety of stakeholders.

If you have experience of planning communications campaigns, writing news releases, and creating a wide variety of content that raises the profile of the organisation you are working for, wed like to hear from you. The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and people skills, take a proactive approach to their work, be organised, innovative and efficient.

If you are interested in working on a variety of projects that are designed to make a positive difference to people affected by cancer, then this could be the role for you.

Partnership working is key within the Cancer Alliance and the successful candidate will work with colleagues from different organisations within the local health and care system.

You will also have multiple training opportunities and be part of an enthusiastic, motivated communications and engagement team.

Main duties of the job

Plan, create and deliver multi-faceted communications and marketing campaigns, utilising organic and paid-for activity to great effect to ensure key messages around cancer awareness and early diagnosis reach the intended audience.

Proactively identify good news stories across all workstreams and package them in a way that earns maximum media coverage to enhance the Cancer Alliances reputation within the communities we serve.

Act as the Cancer Alliances content co-ordinator, ensuring that our wide range of stakeholders are regularly updated about the Cancer Alliances work via a wide variety of publications and online activity.

Advocate the adoption of the hero-hub-hygiene content approach to ensure we maximise the impact of the content we create.

Respond to media enquiries in an efficient and professional manner, liaising with a range of colleagues within and outside of the Cancer Alliance.

Work with agencies to deliver high-end marketing activity, ensuring high standards of work at all times.
