Job summary
NHS Gloucestershire ICB is looking to
recruit a Named GP for Safeguarding Adults and Children to join the Strategic
Safeguarding Team in the Clinical & Quality Directorate.
The Named GP will participate in
multi-agency safeguarding initiatives and contribute medical GP expertise to
work streams set by GSCP and GSAB where required.
The Named GP will be employed by
Gloucestershire ICB for 4 sessions per week. (16 Hours) The pay will be at
nationally agreed rates for this role.
Main duties of the job
This is a statutory all age function
to support NHS Gloucestershire ICB in delivering its statutory safeguarding
duties. It is also a system wide role, requiring the postholder to proactively
build relationships across the county with key partners, provide clinical
expertise where necessary and take a strategic and professional lead on all
aspects of Primary Care (GP) health service contributions for safeguarding
adults and children.
The successful applicant will work
closely with the Designated Dr and Nurses for Safeguarding Children and Adults
and be part of a multi-disciplinary Strategic Safeguarding Team led by the
Associate Director Integrated Safeguarding. The team are committed to improving
the quality and safety of health services for vulnerable people of all ages.
The successful applicant will work
closely with Primary Care (GP), supporting all activities necessary to ensure
that Gloucestershire NHS Providers meet their safeguarding. The postholder will
also provide advice and support for NHS Gloucestershire ICBs executive team
and commissioners to ensure that we are meeting our statutory duties.

- The Named GP for Safeguarding will be an experienced GP of good professional standing with extended knowledge and skills in the care of adult, children and young people ideally as evidenced by a higher qualification and in experience working in delivery of adult and child health services within community.

- Be currently working as a GP with experience practising in the field of safeguarding children /child protection and adult safeguarding .
- Have proven negotiating and leadership skills.
