Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Management Accountant to join the Acute and Community finance team in NHS North West London Integrated Care Board.

The role will report to Deputy Head of Finance Community Services, Senior Finance Manager Community and support Head of Finance Acute & Community in providing robust financial management support to NHS NWL in the achievement of their financial duties and the delivery of value for money.

The role will work as part of the Finance team to provide high quality and proactive financial management support to one or more programme teams in the achievement of their financial duties and the delivery of value for money.

The role will work closely with the rest of the finance team to ensure the effective reporting of income and expenditure against budgets.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities of the role include:

To assist in delivery of the month-end reporting requirements in strict accordance with reporting deadlines/timescales.

Prepare accrual and prepayment schedules as necessary in the production of budget statements within the month-end reporting deadlines.

Support the financial accounts team in delivering key timescales by ensuring invoices are appropriately coded and authorised for payment.

Assist the Senior Finance Manager in setting detailed budgets annually for and assist with obtaining sign off by budget holders according to the timetable

Develop effective working relationships with service managers.

To investigate variances arising in monthly budget statements and report results back to the relevant managers.

Prepare costing and other ad hoc financial management data as required.

To assist with any financial management information to support internal and external audit requirements.

To adhere to internal systems, controls and processes.

The post holder will work closely with other members of the Senior Finance Team as well as the relevant programme teams within the ICB, our External and Internal Auditors and NHSE. It requires an individual with extensive healthcare financial expertise, sound financial and analytical skills and an innovative approach to solving financial problems
