Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to lead a significant portfolio of work across NWL ICB. You will be key in delivering improvements in medicines optimisation and transformation in collaboration with other stakeholders across the ICB.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work across organisations with pharmacy teams, NWL ICB colleagues and other key stakeholders (e.g. LPC, LPC, AHSN) and will deliver responsibilities of the ICB relating to medicines safety, medicines quality, and governance across primary care and the interface.

The role would suit an experienced pharmacy professional who is a team player, delivery focused, and is keen to collaborate across organisational boundaries.

You will need to be a motivated, organised, collaborative pharmacy professional with significant leadership experience, and excellent communication skills. You will be able to create effective working relationships across and within organisations.

Build and maintain effective relationships with clinicians, ICB staff and pharmacy stakeholders in NW London, with the aim of systematically reducing inequalities and variation in medicines.

Ensure the services work is aligned with the systems priorities and integration of prescribing into the development of care pathways in the wider clinical governance and commissioning agenda.

Encourage collaboration through the maintaining effective working relationships with acute and mental health trust chief pharmacists to deliver value from medicines.

Stay up to date with important developments in medicines use

Manage, motivate and inspire team members, investing time in their development.

Contribute to ICB wide regular reports within the organisation.

Build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels through open communication and constructive feedback and encourage transformation in medicines through the establishment of a medicines optimisation network.

Operational Focus

Deputise for and support the Assistant Director of Medicines Optimisation.

Ensure that work agreed is delivered on schedule

Ensure effective and efficient delivery in the two or more of the teams work streams that the post holder leads

Support members of the team who are leading on its other work streams

Provide system leaders and committees with advice, reports and presentations on matters relating to the use of medicines as required

Contribute to effective communication of the ICBs medicines-related priorities to relevant stakeholders

Ensure that a named pharmacist is linked to each practice and that he or she delivers high quality support, engaging effectively with GPs and other practice staff

Practice within the law and in line with General Pharmaceutical Council standards

Maintain the teams focus, monitor performance, and lead elements of work to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

Conduct annual appraisal for direct reports, setting personal objectives and development plans and providing constructive feedback to assist with development

Proactively manage poor performance, grievance and disciplinary issues in a sensitive and professional manner
