Job summary

This role is uniquely placed to provide you with valuable operational experience across multiple providers and has close links to our emergency planning & resilience team. We work flexibly covering core hours Monday-Friday with a mix of home/ office and on site with provider working. We have daily interactions with operational colleagues through to senior executives to find solutions to improve patient flow across our ICS.

You will be a key point of contact for ICS colleagues for daily operational issues across primary care, urgent and emergency care and discharge. You will also support key areas of work such as ambulance patient handover and transport, local alliance working and support planning for key periods of high demand and assurance returns for our ICS Governing bodies and regulators.

Main duties of the job

This role is to provide proactive and reactive support to system partners across our Integrated Care system to improve patient flow within our health and social care system. Provide key information updates both internally and externally to support effective decision making with the aim of relieving pressure in the system, and ultimately improving patient safety and experience. Support and deliver key operational updates and returns to our regulators and appropriate delivery boards. Provide operational support to on call teams.

About us

This is an exciting opportunity to join our operational team managing our System Coordination Centre to support our patients to get to the right place for their care, as well as working closely with regional teams and our local alliance teams.

The team provide the senior point of contact for system partners through our System Coordination centre and onsite support to be proactive and reactive to pressures within health & care across our Integrated Care System (ICS).

Job responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and reactive operational support to providers across the local health economy in order to deliver patient flow through the system.
  • Instigate and chair system-wide escalation meetings (TEAMS/ teleconferences) whenever required.
  • Work closely with staff across provider organisations to maintain strong communication channels, so that system flow issues are escalated and resolved in an effective and timely manner.
  • Support surge planning during operational pressure points such as Easter, Christmas and winter
  • Attend appropriate meetings, taking note of actions and reporting within the Alliance areas.
  • Be responsible for and present a system dashboard to the Alliance operational groups, including highlighting issues and offering solutions
  • Receive, screen and sort incoming electronic mail (generic inbox), information, Sitrep reports, and performance dashboards. Advise on issues and take action to resolve issues in conjunction with Providers and team members.
  • Be responsible for writing reports and completing templates as required, which are accurate and professionally presented.
  • Develop and implement data analytics to show system live performance. Utilise information to predict delivery issues, developing robust plans with providers and reporting into local Delivery Boards
  • Support the ICB Director on Call with any queries in relation to on-call requests during work hours
  • Provide specialist training on developing robust delivery plans and systems to clinicians, management and staff at all levels.
  • Actively contribute to team meetings and participate in formulating plans for continuous service improvement.
  • Participate in the staff appraisal and training programme as required to fulfil the duties of the post.

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Current experience of working within the health & social care environment.
  • Significant experience of self-motivation and self-directed working.
  • Experience of working within a diverse and challenging environment, where priorities change and adjustment to working practices are made.
  • Experience monitoring activity/ performance information across multiple, complex organisations .
  • Ability to evaluate potentially conflicting information from different sources.
  • Experience of implementing robust systems of data capture and filing.
  • Experience of presenting complex information to senior leaders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NHS & social care delivery, policies and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of provider performance requirements
