Job summary
We are looking for an appliance nurse, who will join our existing appliance nursing team. The ICB appliance nursing team provide clinical and professional nursing advice and support on the use of appliances as part of the medicines optimisation team. The appliance nursing team are responsible for pathway, formulary, and guideline development for appliances. The team carry out ICB wide programmes of education/training for all clinicians who are involved in wound management in primary care including general practice and nursing homes. The appliance nursing team use their expertise for inquiry handling and clinical queries from clinicians and/or practices. They also support appliance related ICB cost improvement plans and objectives for each financial year. They carry put product reviews which will inform the adoption of cost-effective products on behalf of the ICB.
You will be an integral part of our friendly ICB medicines optimisation team. While you will be working with the appliance nursing team across the ICB, this role will have a particular focus on North East Essex provision and pathways for appliances. It will involve building relationships with relevant NEE locality professionals/specialists to support a joint ICB appliance pathway. It will also involve deep dive, root cause analysis for outlier practices within NEE and complex reviews for NEE at practice level.

Main duties of the job
1. Work with system partners to explore, develop and promote new and innovative ways to improve the provision and use of appliances in primary care settings.
2. Actively participate in the development of an ICB QIPP/CIP plan, considering the whole patient pathway to identify the potential for additional savings to be achieved through admission avoidance, reduction in healthcare professional time etc.
3. Support with all elements of the appliances QIPP project and support its implementation at place and system level.
4. Support the development of evidence-based guidelines and policies in response to NICE or NHS England publications and directives as they relate to the use of appliances.
5. Work with the ICB Quality Team to promote best practice in the use of appliances and support the development of systems and processes to share learning.
