An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated individual to join our Mid & South Essex Integrated Care Board (MSE ICB) Infection Prevention and Control Team. As part of an Integrated Care System (ICS) the ICB has a bold ambition to deliver improved outcomes for our 1.2m population, placing clinical and professional leadership and the voice of our residents at the heart. In order to meet this challenge we are building an effective team to respond and support health and social care providers across the care boundary.
With an operational focus, this post will support the strategic delivery of the Infection Prevention and Control annual assurance work programme. You will have the authority to act as an infection prevention and control specialist. Reporting to the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention and Control Nurse or an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Manager, you will support all activities necessary to ensure the organisation meets its statutory responsibilities to safeguard the population we serve.
This role will require you to support infection prevention and control delivery facilitating the continuation of a positive and collaborative approach across MSE system partners. As an infection prevention and control nurse support manager you will possess the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders across the ICS and support the co-ordination of the health contribution to achieving good outcomes.

Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for decisions made during the course of duties, seeking guidance and escalating issues where appropriate
- Work under the direction of senior IPC team to contribute to the delivery of one or more strategic plans, enabling key milestones to be delivered and raising any issues associated with the delivery of plans and workstreams
- Contribute to Mid and South Essex strategic planning and policies within specialist field, ensuring clinical governance and continuing quality improvement remains integral to the process
- Use own specialist knowledge and experience to identify workstreams and opportunities for continuous improvement in IPC risk management within the ICS
- Enhance the performance and monitoring of quality, and readiness for regulatory inspection via provider assurance visits
- Participate towards the management and learning from serious incidents in accordance with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.
- Maintain awareness of national trends and evidence-based practice and apply to role
- Support the team in provision of written reports to ICB Committees and Boards
- Have a moderate level competency in data analysis and interpretation
- Be willing and able to develop competency in business acumen in their area of responsibility ensuring value for money, understanding the business of partners and the driving factors for delivery in multiple sectors
