Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Corporate Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Boards and Committees of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Integrated Care Partnership.

The post holder will supply an effective and comprehensive range of managerial, administrative, and secretarial tasks. They will work as part of the Corporate Governance team to develop and maintain arrangements and procedures for the sound corporate governance of the ICB. This will include ensuring that the corporate meeting cycle, the Board, and its committees have robust administration and that the Executive leads and their directors are supported in the delivery of their corporate meetings.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with relevant Executive Leads, Non-Executive Members, and the wider ICB and become a trusted member of the team. They will be expected to exercise judgment in making decisions and be able to operate and deliver independently as well as being part of a team.

You will either have an excellent knowledge of governance arrangements and best practice principles or new to governance and have a strong track record working in managerial or administrative roles whilst being a quick learner with a strong interest in developing the necessary skills.

The post is a hybrid working post, which will require you to be at the office two days per week in addition to attending relevant meetings.

About us

NHS South West London Integrated Care Board (ICB), as part of South West London Integrated Care System (ICS), is a partnership of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people in our six boroughs: Croydon, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth.

Each ICS consists of two statutory elements:

  • an Integrated Care Board, bringing the NHS together with its partners locally to improve health and care services
  • an Integrated Care Partnership (ICP): the broad alliance of organisations and representatives concerned with improving the care, health and wellbeing of the population, jointly convened by the ICB and local authorities in the area.

ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of integrated care systems (ICSs):

  • to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare;
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access;
  • enhance productivity and value for money and;
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

NHS South West London Integrated Care Board decides how the South West London NHS budget is spent and develops plans to improve people's health, deliver higher quality care, and better value for money.

To ensure that that the ICB and ICP Board and Committee meetings are properly constituted with clear terms of reference and conduct their affairs in accordance with the ICB Constitution and supporting documents.

To maintain terms of reference for all Committees and ensure that they are up to date and annually reviewed.

To work with the both the Corporate Governance and Lead Corporate Governance managers implement effective systems for developing and managing the forward plan and agenda for each committee as agreed with each Committee Chair and Executive lead.

To co-ordinate the production of papers, ensuring timely distribution of agendas and supporting papers for internal and external stakeholders.

To attend and minute specified meetings and accurately and appropriately record discussions and decisions taken.

To maintain and monitor a schedule of actions for the ICB Board, the ICP and Committees as required.

To ensure venues, facilities and refreshments are booked.

To follow up meetings with action logs and timely production of minutes for agreement with the relevant Committee Chair in line with agreed KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

To monitor action against agreed points and ensure these are scheduled for matters arising or the forward planner as appropriate.

Support the Lead Corporate Governance Manager in ensuring that the SWL ICB on line tool for managing Conflicts of Interest, is maintained, with accurate staff data covering all required meetings, and regularly report organisational compliance as part of monthly Corporate Affairs performance reporting.

Working with the Communications team, support arrangements for the Annual General Meeting, and annual meeting of Members.
