Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a forward thinking and engaging information governance team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about information governance compliance and has detailed knowledge of Data Protection legislation and extensive experience working within the NHS in large-scale implementations or projects involving significant information governance components. Recognising the criticality of this role, the position is a permanent role.

The post holder will be the named Data Protection Officer for GP practices (including Primary Care Networks). The post-holder will be responsible for providing senior and strategic data protection legislation subject matter expertise and insight to programmes and projects to achieve beneficial changes in line with the strategic goals of NHS SEL ICB and national data protection legislation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the development and management of data protection legislation agenda and work collaboratively across the health landscape with PCNs, GP Practices and other organisations to provide a professional and effective Data Protection Officer role.

At this time, staff in the ICB are hybrid working (predominately working from home) but there is a requirement to work in the office at Tooley Street London as required, as well as occasional travel to partner organisations, Practice sites and for offsite meetings.

  • Professional Training in an IG related subject or evidence of professional training/experience to an equivalent standard.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Extensive specialist knowledge and understanding (as an expert) of the UK/EU General Data protection Regulations, Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Access to Health Records Act 1990.
  • Experience in resolving highly complex Information Governance/data protection legislation queries and issues where there are a range of potential solutions which will have corporate implications.
