We are looking for three experienced Senior Health Intelligence Analysts to join our newly expanded Business Intelligence team, initially on a secondment/FTC basis with the potential to become permanent at the end of the period. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward thinking, proactive group of analysts as we expand our remit within the organisation.
Reporting to the Health Intelligence Manager, each Senior Health Intelligence Analyst will assist with the development of a Population Health Management and Health Inequalities focused reporting and analytical capability workstream. They will support the creation, maintenance and updating of reports using Power BI and other platforms, and using SharePoint to store, organize, share, and access these reports. There will also be opportunities to lead and innovate on projects using advancing technologies including machine learning, programming tools and reporting layers.
Main duties of the job
With extensive experience of use of information across the NHS, you will be highly competent in extracting data using SQL and use of Excel and Power BI to enable high quality analysis and presentation of data. Knowledge of designing and maintaining automated/advanced reporting systems using VBA, Python, DAX, R, or other languages would be an advantage but not essential. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable you to present results and conclusions of analysis to stakeholders based within either one of our six borough-based or our South East London-wide planning teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Validate and monitor the provision of specialised datasets by NHS England and SEL providers, including confirming accuracy, completeness, timeliness and availability. Work with NHS England and other South London colleagues to resolve any issues that are identified.
- Assist with integrating new specialised datasets into the ICBs existing reporting environment.
- Provide expertise, modelling and benchmarking to enable ICB population spend and activity to be cut on the basis of geography, age and disease to support whole population place-based planning.
- Work on the creation of regular, robust and effective performance monitoring tools as part of multi-disciplinary teams delivering specialised services within South London, including:
- Support Contract Management teams in negotiating and agreeing contracts with providers and NHS England for the provision of specialised services.
- Timely and validated specialised contract monitoring and performance information, in user-friendly format
- Monitoring of performance, the assessment and analysis of trends and issues, scenario planning and year end projections.
- Analytical support to the production of annual operating plans through the provision of specialised services analysis.
- Work closely with the Health Intelligence Managers and the Associate Director of Financial Analytics to assist with the integration of specialised services into Population Health Management and Health Inequalities focused reporting and analytical capability workstream.
- Support with analytics as part of a multi-disciplinary approach to planning, ICB programmes of transformation and ongoing support to enable the effective implementation of service changes, contract developments and annual Operating Plan and assurance process.
- Work with the Health intelligence managers to assist with SELs Business Intelligence Reporting development workstream, continuously reviewing and adapting the portfolio of automated and manual reports available to meet changing requirements and priorities.
- Create, maintain and update reports using Power BI and other platforms, and using SharePoint to store, organize, share, and access these Reports.
- Ensure that robust and effective activity related monitoring information is provided as required on a regular basis, including tailoring data and information reports to meet the needs of different stakeholders both internal and external.
- Represent SEL ICB in data modelling, analytical system development and other such collaboration projects developed jointly with SWL ICB, SLOSS, ISL and other key stakeholders in London and national programmes. Support data assurance, validation and systems harmonisation projects working with the ISL and NECS teams to achieve improvements in technical processes and a consistent and comprehensive London-wide approach to data assurance processes that meets SEL local requirements.
- Contribute to lessons learned documentation outlining the approach taken in SWL and evaluation of its success, in order to feed back to NHS England and to assist other ICBs across England with planning for the delegation of specialised services from 24/25.
- Maintain and cascade up to date knowledge of current and complex reforming NHS financial flows and national tariff payments system guidance, Specialised Services Specifications & Identification Rules, NHS Data Dictionary and Data Models.
