Job summary
This
is a senior role within the Clinical and Professional Directorate of NHS West
Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (NHS WY ICB), providing leadership,
management, and oversight of the Health Protection function. This includes
overseeing the management of health protection incidents, including
infectious disease outbreaks, environmental health risks, and public health
emergencies.
The
post holder will be expected to manage as part of a multi-disciplinary team
the identification, prevention, control and response to infectious and
non-infectious threats to focus on health inequalities and the specific local
populations that are traditionally hard to reach to achieve an equity of
outcome. This may include establishing situational awareness, surveillance,
mobilising vaccinations or testing in partnership with relevant clinical
teams, supporting contact tracing, and engagement with relevant stakeholders.

Main duties of the job
The
role of the Consultant in Public Health is to establish connections, lead,
& coordinate joint objectives for improving health. They will provide
strategic public health leadership, expertise, & technical advice on
health protection matters across for WY ICB. The Consultant will lead on the
surveillance, prevention, & management of communicable diseases &
environmental hazards, offering specialist guidance to colleagues &
partners.
The
role involves leading health protection responses, emergency planning, &
reducing health inequalities through the public health framework. The
Consultant will work collaboratively with key partners across the health
& care system, such as the UK Health Security Agency, local authorities,
& community health teams, to ensure comprehensive health protection
coverage & improved population health outcomes.
The
post is subject to the core competencies as set out by the Faculty of Public
Health for Consultant appointments & the post holder will be expected to
demonstrate expertise

- Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register or UK Public Health (Specialist) Register
- Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body
- MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment

- Masters in public health or equivalent
