Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with good nutrition knowledge and experience, to work mostly in West Essex. You will be managed by our Prescribing Support Consultant Dietitian and work within a small friendly & supportive team of dietitians covering the ICS geography of West Essex and Hertfordshire. The organisation encourages flexible working.

Our overall aim is to ensure that patients in the whole of Hertfordshire & West Essex are offered excellent NHS care that borrows and adapts the best work from elsewhere and that helps us in our ongoing quest to provide the best quality services that we can for our 1.6M ICS population.

Key outcome areas include:

  • Supporting primary care to improve prescribing of oral nutritional supplements
  • Supporting primary care to improve prescribing of Specialist infant formulas (CMPA)
  • Working with community dietetics to support use of a 'whole care home approach'
  • Working with GP practices to de-prescribe some vitamin supplements

You will be working in a learning organisation and in a team that strives to support all staff to grow and to develop.

Main duties of the job

  • Able to assess and treat a specialist caseload, manages this through audit, assessment and training of champions in GP practices and beyond
  • Acts as an advanced clinical dietitian, leading for several specialist areas
  • Develops and implements local guidelines across nutrition and dietetics. This includes significant liaison with staff in acute services, community services and primary care - great influencing skills are a key part of the role
  • Provides specialist dietetic advice to the PMOT team and ICB GP practices
  • Undertakes training and research
  • The post holder will support the Head of Department and their team to ensure that their workstream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery.

  • Qualifications equivalent to dietetic degree e.g. Undergraduate Degree/2 year Post-Graduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics

  • Concise and Clear communication Skills
  • Highly developed presentation skills (using Powerpoint)
