This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding finance
professional to join a growing and evolving management accounts team. We have a
Deputy Management Accountant post that will be pivotal in supporting Dorset ICB
with accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and advice.
You will be joining a large and busy management accounts
team playing a key role in;
- Helping to support the management accounts function as
part of the move towards a fully developed Integrated Care System.
- Providing a deputy management accountant role
to your nominated business functions.
- Contribute towards and be an active member
of a team of highly motivated finance professionals.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will;
- Have, or be working towards a full qualification with the
Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), or equivalent qualification at NVQ
level 4.
- Able to communicate effectively, both
orally and in writing, including ability to communicate complex financial
information.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach and be able to work
effectively as part of a team in a challenging environment.
- Experience of dealing with Internal and External stakeholders
using a customer focused approach.

JOB PURPOSE
- Responsible
for supporting the Senior Management Accountant to ensure the production of
integrated, efficient, effective, accurate and timely Management Accounting
information for the senior finance team, ICB Board and Commissioning Managers.
- Responsible
in assisting the senior finance team in the provision of financial information
and advice to ICB decision makers, external agencies, and partnership
organisations.
- To
ensure financial information is processed in accordance with ICB approved
procedures through completion of own work and through the coordination of the
work of others.
- To
work co-operatively in supporting all Directorates with Financial Information, advice,
and assistance.
- To
assist in maintaining the budgets for Personal Health Commissioning (PHC),
including month end close, monitoring monthly spend and forecasting
expenditure.

POST SPECIFIC,
TASKS AND OBJECTIVES
You will support the Senior Management
Accountant in being the finance lead for Personal Health Commissioning and be
responsible for the provision of complex, sensitive financial information
requiring knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, financial aspects
of NHS legislation and NHS finance procedures. The Management Accounting
function prepares and provides financial information to enable the organisation
to operate effectively and to make informed and timely decisions about its
future direction.
The role of Deputy Management
Accountant would include:

Establishing and maintaining communication
with individuals and groups about difficult and complex financial matters,
often having to overcome problems in communication with people from
non-financial background and those who are new to managing financial
information and the aspects of effective budgetary control.

Assisting the Senior Management
Accountant in the setting of PHC budgets, providing and maintaining financial
forecasts, analysing and advising on variance from set budgets.

Calculation of monthly accruals
and provisions relating to PHC.

Monitoring and extrapolating
forecasts from highly complex expenditure trends/budgetary performance monthly,
identifying significant issues for PHC and advising accordingly.

Journals
