Bristol, North
Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) ICB are seeking to appoint an independent
chair for the Independent Advisory Group (IAG) on Race Equality in Health &
Care. This will be for a 2 year term. The IAG is in its infancy and the
chair will be integral to its creation and establishment. The IAG will provide
guidance, insight and constructive challenge to the ICB that will lead to the
formation of a genuine partnership with communities, encouraging the active
involvement of people from all minority ethnic groups across BNSSG. The aim of
the IAG is to ensure that the needs of the diverse communities of BNSSG are
considered in all aspects of health policy and practice in the locality, to
address health inequalities and improve the confidence of all communities in
the health and social care provided.
Main duties of the job
As Chair
you will demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and commitment. You
will provide effective leadership to the group and work alongside its members,
holding responsibility for constructively challenging, influencing and
developing recommendations to address health inequalities experienced by
BNSSGs racialised communities.
BNSSG is
looking for someone with experience in chairing complex meetings, and requiring
the ability to understand complex data to reach informed judgements and proven
leadership skills in guiding multi-stakeholder colleagues to effective
outcomes.
During the
initial creation of the IAG (anticipated to take no more than 6 months with a
limited time commitment per month) and honorarium will be payable where the
applicant is not already remunerated for this time via an alternative NHS or
Care role. Following creation and implementation of the IAG it is anticipated
that the time commitment would be in the region of 3 hours per quarter plus
periodic attendance at the ICS Partnership Board and ICB Board (subject to
their availability) on a voluntary basis with expenses reimbursed.
