Main duties of the job

The Lead Trainer will oversee the planning, quality, assurance and delivery aims of an award-winning training team, the majority of whom have lived experience of a learning disability and / or are autistic. This role includes:

Planning and co-delivering Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training (Tiers 1 and 2) for health and care staff.

Ensuring experts with lived experience remain at the heart of everything we do.

Providing quality assurance and evaluating delegate feedback.

Supervising and providing pastoral support to trainers.

Leading Train the Trainer programmes.

Supporting the Project Manager in the ongoing development of the training programme.

  • A relevant teaching qualification such as Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS), Multi professional support of learning and assessment in practice or an equivalent.
  • Accredited as an Oliver McGowan Lead Trainer.
  • Significant experience of proficient and successful delivery of Oliver's Training (Tiers 1 and 2) to health and social care staff, or similar workforce.
  • Experience delivering high quality services to people with a learning disability and autistic people in a professional role such as RNLD, OT or social worker, or can demonstrate an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of learning disability along with current issues, trends and priorities within the social care sector including relevant legislation.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Autism along with current issues, trends and priorities within the health and social care sector including relevant legislation such as the Autism Act 2009.
  • Robust experience and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights Act 1998, The Equality Act 2010, UK legal valid consent laws and DNACPR case law.
  • Evidence of continued professional development and a commitment to own professional development.
