Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered dental practitioner with current GDC registration and proven leadership experience to join our Performance and Delivery Team within BNSSG ICB. This is an opportunity to bring your expertise and experience to implement a dental strategy that guides the future commissioning of NHS dental services for people living in BNSSG.
The chosen candidate will collaborate and provide solution focused leadership to deliver the dental strategic plans. They will work closely with dental practices, the wider BNSSG Strategic Commissioning Team, the regional Collaborative Commissioning Hub, local authority public health dental leads as well as patients and community and acute service providers to enhance the quality and effectiveness of services.
Effective from 1st April 2023, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (BNSSG ICB) took on the delegated responsibility for the oversight of dental, general ophthalmic, and pharmaceutical services.
Main duties of the job
Operate in a flexible & demanding environment & engage with stakeholders.
Provide dental expertise to, & oversight of, the dental strategy priority areas, high street access, community dental services, Oral Health promotion & workforce.
Employ effective communication, negotiation & influencing skills to enable stakeholder relationships to deliver objectives over the duration of the project.
Provide dental advice to ensure accuracy of dental communications from ICB staff.
Influence, lead & support the development of relationships across the ICB to enable collaboration for better patient outcomes.
Provide dental expertise & oversight to the ICB in developing & delivering the dental strategic plan & provide vision & strategic direction to the team.
Participate in case investigations including visiting practices & face to face interviews.
Advise on dental and oral health matters, working with other clinical professional colleagues in the BNSSG clinical dental network, collaborating with primary, secondary, community, & third sector organisations to enhance integrated dental care services.
Provide clinical advice from a general dental perspective on the planning & monitoring of dental services, clinical dentistry & dental workforce development including Dental Care Professionals.
Provide & receive highly complex, sensitive & contentious information, presenting information, to a wide range of stakeholders in a formal setting.

- Educated to masters level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
- Member of a relevant professional body (Registered dental practitioner with current GDC registration.).
